Marwell Zoo Family Trip 2014

Home-Start families enjoy a day at the zoo!

Blessed with lovely sunny weather, forty three adults and fifty four children enjoyed a wonderful day out at Marwell Zoo on 29th June 2014. Home-Start in Waverley took a packed coach to the event whilst other families chose to make own their way to the zoo by car. Thanks to the generosity of local charities, families were offered free admission to Marwell, a free Zoo guide and the option of free coach travel. Home-Start is very thankful to the Lions Club’s of Farnham, Godalming and Cranleigh, Cranleigh Lion Tamers and Liphook, Bordon and Haslemere Charity for their support in making this fantastic day out happen.

There were some truly memorable sights and wonderful animals to view including a baby giraffe and a leopard having an afternoon sleep in the midday sun. There was also lots of dinosaur fun to be had too with a series of animatronic dinosaurs on display around the park. If you got too near they would move, roar and even spit at you!

The adventure playground was also getting some good use as parents joined in with their children on the swings and slides and in the sandpit, then tucked into a yummy picnic afterwards.

One Home-Start family who attended the event said “I just really want to thank you because without the opportunity that home start gave us to go, we couldn’t afford it. We had such a lovely day, and it meant so much to us. I really can’t express how thankful I am for making my children so happy”
