Handling Three type of Links

INTERNAL

A link within the website needs to contain information about where the link is likely to go or what it will do. Avoid using “Click Here”. Example:  If this is of interest please contact us.

EXTERNAL

All links leaving your site need to be opened in a new browser window otherwise people cannot return to your website. Example:

Example: My favourite website is bbc.co.uk.

(This is my version):  My favourite website is itv.com

WEBSITE ASSET

You can make items available to people as downloadable documents or brochures. It is best to always do this with a PDF version of the document. If you also want to make it easy for people to edit and return a document you can use MS Word, or RTF format as well. But try to avoid the case where you only make a Word Document available. Not everyone will be able to open it and read it. If you always make sure a PDF version is included as standard then everyone can at least read it.

Example: You can download this important document here.

Using an Icon

You can also use an icon to jump somewhere if you wish. This needs to generally be a small image.
